How it all started
If there’s no cozy Coffee Shop with good coffee and homemade pastries where you live, maybe you must create one yourself? That's exactly the thought that the couple Charles and Elisabet Asker had. And so they did. In 1996, in Lund in Sweden, they opened the first Espresso House.
A new way of enjoying coffee
Espresso House offered something completely different from the historical Swedish traditional café back then. It was a unique, cozy and welcoming atmosphere that was a new way of enjoying coffee for Swedes.
Quality and Passion
Charles and Elisabet founded the company on two important pillar stones: quality and passion. And that culture is still strong as of today.
In the beginning, they baked everything in their own kitchen from their own family recipes.
Did you know that our classic Mudcake is a recipe from Charles’ grandmother? It’s been a favorite from the start and is still on the menu!

Today you can find us in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Germany.
